Paul Paton
has revealed Northern Ireland gaffer Michael O’Neill has offered to help find him a new club. The former Partick Thistle, Dundee United and St Johnstone midfielder was allowed to leave the Perth club on January 31. Despite being a regular in O’Neill’s World Cup squads, he is now jobless. But his international boss (below) is helping to get Paton playing again. He said: “It has been tough for me and harder for my family. They’re disappointed and angry. “For the first time since I was 17, I don’t have a job. I trained with Motherwell for a few days because Stevie Robinson knows me from Northern Ireland. But I didn’t want to outstay my welcome. “O’Neill sent me a message and his chief scout is going to speak to some clubs in England about me. “We’ll see if anything comes from it.”
