Eilidh Paterson, 29, and Chris Brown, B 31, f rom Bishopton, Renfrewshire, R are getting married at a Toward Village Hall , just outside o Dunoon. The Th couple, who are huge football fans, fa have no concerns about Harry and a Meghan – they are more worried that th their special day will clash with their th beloved club going for glory in the th Scottish Cup Final.
Physiotherapist Eilidh and golf travel tr salesman Chris met online through t their shared love of Aberdeen A FC.
Their team is one of eight clubs to have h made it to the quarter-finals of the th competition.
And the pair joke that they may have h to miss their own wedding if Aberdeen play their way to the Hampden final on May 19.
Eilidh said: “The first I knew about the royal wedding being confirmed for the same day as ours was when I got a message from one of my bridesmaids saying she was going to have to pull out as Meghan had asked her to be a bridesmaid on the same date.
“At first I was thinking, ‘ Who’s Meghan?’ But then I realised who she was and my friend was joking.
“Our biggest worry isn’t over the royal wedding affecting our day but the Scottish Cup Final.
“If Aberdeen get to the final, a lot of our wedding guests will want to be there – including Chris, me and d my dad.”
Eilidh and Chris picked their r wedd ing dat e a round the e availability of Eilidh’s favourite e band, Tide Lines, who they have e booked to play at their reception.
Unlike Harry and his new bride, e, the couple wi l l not be leaving g the ceremony in a horse- drawn n carriage but Eilidh does plan to travel el to her wedding in a horse and cart. .
Ei l idh, who is hav ing si x bridesmaids, said: “My dad’s a farmer so, weather permitting, , I’m hoping we will be taken to o the ceremony thanks to some Clydesdale horses and a cart.”
