I’m in a spin over dryer

- Lowther

My new tumble dryer failed after five weeks. I’d bought it online but the retailer said I was not entitled to a replacement. I am furious as I don’t trust the appliance and don’t want a repair. What can I do? As you are outwith 30 days, you have to give the retailer one chance to repair or replace the machine. You can state your preference but they can choose the cheaper option. If they repair it and it fails again, you can demand another machine. Zoe Stephen got off to a false start when her £1500 horse needed emergency surgery.

She complained to dealer William Lowther, who promised to cover half of the £500 vet bill. But he failed to hand over the cash, then blocked all communication with her.

Zoe, 23, said: “I know he has done this to others.

“The pony he delivered was lame, had worms and abscesses on his feet. He was so thin you could see his ribs.

“It was only after a riding lesson that I noticed an abnormal growth on his underside which was bleeding. Thankfully it turned out not to be cancerous.

“But it had to be operated on right away. It was awful.”

Waitress Zoe, of Fochabers, Moray, traded in a pony and paid £1100 for Jake, a Fell Cross Welsh, in November.

I previously told how Lowther, of Cowdenbeath, sold horses which couldn’t be ridden and were unpredictable to three of my readers.

But he refused to give them their money back.

I got on to Lowther and he finally paid Zoe £100 last week and promised to pay the rest on Tuesday.

If he doesn’t, you’ll be the first to hear about it.
