Wake ends in bust-up
A woman assaulted two police officers after a bustup at her gran’s funeral.
Deborah Hamilton, 27, of Renfrew, was at a wake in Galashiels’ Royal British Legion Club when a fight broke out after she vomited on the floor.
Police were called and Hamilton hit a female officer on the head. She kicked another officer at the police station.
At Selkirk Sheriff Court, Hamilton was found guilty. Sentence was deferred.
David Brown, 66, was arrested in 2006 after police busted the His Children orphanage in the capital Tirana.
An appeal bid was rejected last year but Brown has now served enough of his sentence under Albanian law to try for parole.
A court hearing in Tirana will take place in front of a judge to determine the outcome.
His sol icitor, Gjyst i na Gol loshi , said: “Based on Albanian law, he has now completed enough conditions of his sentence to make this request to the court.
“I don’t know for sure when he may be released – and there’s not any chance he can be released straight away.
“But our hope is that this court will consider the request and I’m expecting things to happen soon.
“It’s a possibility he could be released this year.
“His behaviour in prison has been very good and he has fulfilled all the conditions requested of him.
“David is not happy waiting for justice to happen.
“He would ideally like the chance to give his testimony in court in order to prove that he is
