Scot thought Coe was seal­ing pre­sen­ta­tion with a kiss

Leg­end Seb Coe looked set to plant a smacker on Jake Wight­man af­ter the Scot­tish track hero claimed a bril­liant bronze in the 1500m.

And the run­ner ad­mits he’d have been happy to seal the medal mo­ment with a kiss.

IAAF pres­i­dent and four-time Olympic medal­list Coe – a pal of Wight­man’s dad Ge­off – grabbed Jake by the cheeks and pulled him in as he draped bronze around his neck af­ter his world-class run.

And the 23-year-old said: “Yeah, I ini­tially thought he was go­ing in for it – wildest dreams!

“But I couldn’t have asked for any­one bet­ter to present that medal. Be­fore we went out he gave me a hug and said he knew I was go­ing to get a medal and he was so proud of how I ran.

“He has been great. There’s no one I’d like to em­u­late more than him. Steve Cram came up for a hug as soon as I’d fin­ished too.

“From those guys who have been there and done ev­ery­thing it’s nice to know they ad­mire what you’re do­ing. I’m so happy I’ve come away with this, on the last day too.”
