may’s bid to tackle marine plastics
Theresa May is set to urge all Commonwealth countries to join the fight against marine plastics.
At a summit of the 52 leaders in London this week, the Prime Minister will announce measures worth more than £ 61million to fund research and help clean up the oceans.
May will urge all member countries to sign up to the newly-formed Commonwealth Clean Oceans Alliance.
She said the “scourge of marine plastic pollution” is “one of the most significant environmental challenges facing the world today and it is vital that we tackle this issue”.
