Fed-up Britney fans say they’ve no time for mime
Britney Spears has been branded a “waste of money” after fans accused the star of lip-synching during her world tour. The pop princess, due to play Glasgow on Wednesday, played the second UK date of her Piece of Me tour in rain-hit Scarborough on Friday. The tour has sparked mixed feelings with Britney also having been accused of miming in her Vegas show and at her show at Brighton Pride on August 4. Whi le thousands of screaming fans in the Yorkshire town agreed Britney put on a show- stopping performance, many felt shortchanged at her lip-synching. Nicola Matterson wrote on Twitter: “Britney Spears – so disappointed in Scarborough. Live singing my a***.” Peter Franks replied to a fan looking forward to Britney’s Manchester gig yesterday by saying: “Good luck– she mimed all the way throughout the show. “Britney Spears – waste of money.” Keeley- May Clarkson added on Twitter yesterday: “So glad I just paid £60 to watch Britney mime along to her own songs. However, her dancers were slick. And I got some decent photos – so, silver linings.”
Gareth tweeted: “Lots of people seem to be complaining on social media about how bad Britney Spears was at Scarborough tonight. Many saying they left early.”
Boo Brown wrote: “I remember watching her first UK performance on the National Lottery show.
“Tonight I queued for two mi les and stood in the pouring rain for hours, but 12 year old me is still very happy I saw Britney (in all her lip-syncing glory).”
However, it didn’t seem to spoil the fun for others.
David Hobbs tweeted: “If you’re going to a show to hear l ive vocals then Britney probably isn’t for you.
“All about the show and the hits. No one cares that she doesn’t sing live.”
Spears entertained fans with a performance which saw multiple costume changes and pole dancing in the rain. She’ll perform at the SSE Hydro on
Wednesday.
