after failing to pay debts. It was all a far cry from her pin-up days, which included a 100ft image of her naked, tiny frame being projected on to the House of Commons for FHM mag in 1999.

Gail said: “I never saw myself as pretty. Not even then. I don’t remember being hit on by men.

“Now I don’t even think about feeling sexy. I just want hugs and cuddles.

“My cat, Pickles, gives me cuddles. My daughter is my best friend.

“It’s not easy to meet someone the older you get – and I’m not far off 50 now. They’re all married. Where do I look?”

Alopecia robbed her of modelling work and some of her femininity.

Talking about the FHM picture, she said: “I think I had a good a**e then. I probably still do.

“I go to the gym daily to do spinning and workouts. I work hard to stay looking young. But losing my hair was hard.”

Apart from looking for love, Gail would also like to be taken more seriously by TV bosses.

In 2015, she was on Celebrity Big Brother. But she does feel disappointed not to have been offered more serious TV work.

Her favourite job in recent years was a stint on the Channel 5 documentary So You Think You Can Nurse?

She said: “I feel I have more to offer – more credibility than just reality TV shows.”
