Moyes ready to live an American dream

-

David Moyes could be set for a sensational return to management as the new boss of the United States.

US football officials have been alerted that the former Manchester United manager is interested in succeeding Bruce Arena.

Arena was sacked last October after failing to qualify for the World Cup.

Some within the federation prefer a move for Colombian Juan Carlos Osorio – who guided Mexico to the last 16 of this summer’s World Cup.

However, the news that former Celtic defender Moyes would be interested in the job has divided the US federation.

The Scot has a wealth of experience, including working with world- class players, as well as a top coaching pedigree.

The 55-year- old helped steer West Ham to safety last season, finishing 13th.

But Moyes was let go by owners David Sullivan and David Gold after his shortterm deal ended, bringing in former Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini as his replacement.

Moyes has a home in Florida and is thought to be interested in leading the American national team towards Qatar 2022.

A complication could be that interim boss Dave Sarachan, who has been in charge for eight matches, had his contract extended until the end of the year earlier this month.
