Pellegrini slams shaky Hammers

-

Manuel Pellegrini blasted his West Ham side for being too nervous after they conceded twice in the second half as they failed to earn a point in his first two games in charge.

The Irons gaffer urged his men to forget about their 13th-placed finish last season after Marko Arnautovic’s first-half spotkick was cancelled out by Callum Wilson’s stunner and Steve Cook’s winner.

The loss leaves the Hammers rooted at the foot of the table.

He said: “The team was too nervous. We won the first half 1- 0. From the bench it looked like players wanted to finish and didn’t continue to play, especially late in the first half.

“In the second half we conceded two easy goals.”

The squad, everyone, must forge t about las t season, trust what we’re doing and look to the future. I feel the squad is without trust, many have to adapt to the league.”

Arnautovic converted his spot-kick in 33 minutes after Nathan Ake clipped Javier Hernandez.

But the tide turned after the break as Wilson levelled after powering past four defenders and Cook’s closerange header found the net.

Cherries boss Eddie Howe said: “It’s an excellent win and performance, especially in the second half. How we haven’t scored more we’ll have a look back, but it is a good sign.”
