LEAGUE TWO

-

Elgin boss Gavin Price was delighted after Chris McLeish’s tap-in kept up their storming start.

After a tight first half McLeish broke the deadlock in front of an open goal from Shane Sutherland’s square ball in 57 minutes.

Rovers pushed for an equaliser but never troubled City keeper Kyle Gourley.

Price said: “It’s a very pleasing win. We’ve had a really good start and we are improving week by week.”

Rovers boss John Brogan said: “There wasn’t a lot in it and we played well. I’m gutted for the boys.”

Honest Peter Murphy admitted Annan were miles off the pace despite staying level on points with leaders Peterhead.

The Galabankies sank Queen’s Park with a three-goal blitz early in the second half.

Tommy Mui r, Ryan Sinnamon and Aidan Smith all netted in a seven-minute spell, while Smart Osadolor scored the Queen’s goal.

And Murphy said: “I’m disappointed. For 83 minutes Queen’s Park were better.”

Spiders boss Gus MacPherson said: “There was honestly nothing between the teams.” Peterhead manager Jim McInally hailed his team after they battled the elements to defeat title rivals Clyde.

The Blue Toon went top of the table by ending the Bully Wee’s winning start, thanks to striker Rory McAllister’s second-half goal.

McInally said: “We deserved it over the course of the game.

“I was delighted with my team as a defensive unit against a gusty wind.”

The only goal of the game came when Derek Lyle sent McAllister clear with a clever lobbed pass and the Blue Toon forward kept his composure to slot past Bully Wee keeper Blair Currie from 10 yards.

Clyde gaffer Danny Lennon said: “It was two teams trying to cancel one another out but we knew it would be a big challenge coming here.”

Cowdenbeath boss Gary Bollan hailed his side’s emphatic win despite ugly scenes late on.

Headers from Jordyn Sheerin and Martin Scott gave the Blue Brazil a two-goal lead before Pat Scul lion and Robbie Buchanan sealed the rout.

But foul play from the Blue Brazil’s Kyle Miller and Berwick captain Robert Wilson saw the pair sent off.

Bollan said: “Every one of the boys was outstanding.”

Berwick gaffer Robbie Horn added: “I didn’t think there was anything in it for half an hour. It was a tight game.” Fuming Stirling boss Dave McKay blasted his defence after his team fell to a fifth defeat on the trot.

Edinburgh blew the Binos away with goals from Scott Shepherd, Conrad Balatoni and a Jordan Allan own goal.

McKay said: “It’s incredible the goals we’re conceding.”

After Blair Henderson missed a penalty for City, Shepherd netted from the spot following a foul by Kyle Banner on him. Mark Stewart levelled for Stirling before Balatoni’s header and Allan’s OG sealed it.

City’s James McDonaugh said: “I’m very pleased.”
