Duncan Sinclair slammed his side’s Scottish Cup exit as the worst display of his time in charge as Arthurlie went out with a whimper.

The Dunterlie Park boss was frustrated as the Barrhead men, undefeated at home since August, were reduced to 10 men and flopped in the third-round clash.

Sean Tucker bagged two said: “In terms of comparing that to junior football, the away fans give you a hard time, tr y to put you off your game, which can be a bit of a nightmare.

“I can remember the first season I was at Whitletts I had a man bun and I was getting pelters from the away fans.

“You just need to try to blank that out, focus on the game in front of you and just make sure you don’t make any mistakes or let it get to you.

“Whereas in the wrestling ring you soak it all in, you enjoy people chanting your name, you play up to them – it’s amazing.

“Which is the more hostile? Oh junior football, oh aye, has to be!”

penalties for Violet with Cameron Black also on target as Del McNab’s early equaliser was quickly brushed aside.

Fuming Sinclair said: “Woeful. That’s the worst we have played since I have came here. Our players didn’t turn up.

“We had a chat af ter the game and we will tell one or two people some home truths during the week.”

The Violets took the lead from the spot through Tucker after James Digney had brought him down in the box in 23 minutes.

Lie looked like they might have some fight in them when McNab headed home a leveller in the 38th minute but Black’s cool f inish gave Violet the lead at the break.

Gavin Thomson was brought down inside the area after the restart with Tucker again keeping his cool to step up and slot away the resulting penalty.

It got worse for Lie when James Marks walked and there was salt in the wound when Partick Docherty missed a spot kick of his own.

Delighted Violet gaffer John Dunn said: “We were confident coming down here.

“A lot of people had written us off but we are in the last 32 now and if we get a good draw who says we can’t go a bit further?”
