Boss Mark Cowie branded Fraserburgh “flawless” after they blew Inverurie Locos away.

A stunning 5- 0 win kept up the pressure on leaders Cove Rangers and Cowie’s men were simply brilliant.

It was billed as being a tough battle of teams with ambitions of finishing in the top three.

But it looked like a top v bottom clash as Fraserburgh ran riot with Paul Campbell claiming a double.

Cowie said: “That was as close as you will get to a f lawless performance from us.

“To a man, they were unbel ievable. We set the standards of how we can play and I’m now expecting that in every game.”

Scott Barbour, Paul Young and Bryan Hay were also on target in the romp.

Locos manager Neil Cooper admitted: “They thoroughly deserved it. They were a lot stronger than us and we defended really poorly.”

Cove stayed in the driving seat with a Mitch Megginson double away to Wick Academy sealing a 2- 0 victory.

It’s a 12th straight win and although Fraserburgh sit just two points behind they have played three games more.

Formartine United found the going far from smooth away to Lossiemouth but won 4- 2 thanks to goals from Graeme Rodger, Jevan Anderson, Stuart Smith and Andrew Greig.

Angus Grant netted twice for Turiff as they drew 3- 3 with Rothes in a thriller.

In the Cup, Brora Rangers put f ive past Clach with Dale Gillespie and Colin Williamson claiming doubles.

Buckie Thistle also secured passage to the first round with a 3-1 triumph at Nairn.
