Kirsty’s family to press for 2nd probe

-

The family of a Scot who fell to her death from a Benidorm hotel room are pressing for a new investigation into what happened.

Kirsty Maxwell, 27, from Livingston, died during a hen-do in April last year after she wandered into a room on the 10th floor where five British men were staying.

Eight police officers have been summonsed to a court hearing in the Costa Blanca resort on Thursday.

Lorena Soler Bernabeu, the new lawyer for Kirsty’s family, is expected to use the hearing to try to question the police response and urge the investigating judge to order a more extensive probe.

The hearing, which will be held behind closed doors, is taking place at the request of a state prosecutor after it emerged no “foreign DNA” had been found in samples taken from Kirsty’s body.

The bank worker’s husband Adam previously said he believed “something dark” had happened in the room where the five men, all from the Nottingham area, were partying. A l l f ive have denied any wrongdoing.

A spokesman for Kirsty’s family said yesterday: “They will continue to maintain their dignity and respect the court processes by avoiding speaking publicly about matters which could be perceived as sensitive.”
