Tyre factory closure proves Brexit is the road to ruin

-

It’s just a few weeks since Dundee was a town on the up.

The City of Discovery was being discovered by thousands of firsttime visitors flocking to the new V& A museum.

Now Dundee’s industrial sector could soon become a museum exhibit of “the way things used to be”.

Bosses at tyre makers Michelin didn’t even manage to tell their 850-strong workforce of closure plans before news leaked. Millions in public money has been spent on the plant.

But no amount of cash can remove the threat of Brexit, the potential for cross-border tariffs and export licences.

The firm are based in the Auvergne region of France. Don’t tell us they’re not preparing for Britain’s EU opt-out.

Workers are already paying the Brexit price. Tragic and terrifying.

Make this slow car-crash stop.
