Daniel MacLaurin met Tyler Dooley, the son of Thomas Markle Jr, Meghan’s half-brother, on the set of MTV’s The Royal World.
Daniel and the Duchess of Sussex’s nephew hit it off during filming of the show, in which Tyler, 26, is rumoured to reveal “shocking” and “surprising” secrets about Meghan and their family.
The 21-year-old St Andrews student, of Clan MacLaurin of Appin, said: “Tyler is a fantastic guy. We were all shocked when he came in and at first we had no idea who he was.
“After he introduced himsel f as Meghan’s nephew, we were all quite taken aback but he turned out to be a thoroughly nice guy who has a lot going for him. He got on with everyone and deserved to be there as he has his own merits. The show was filmed back in August but Tyler and I have stayed in touch and talk on a WhatsApp group all the time. “I help organise the Kate Kennedy Club’s annual May Bal l at St Andrews Uni and I would love if he and the rest of the gang from the show could be there.” He added: “If someone had told me a few months ago I would be spending the summer in a house with someone like Tyler, I would have laughed out loud. Where else would I possibly have met a cannabis grower from Oregon? It’s simply crazy.” Daniel, who is studying international relations at Scotland’s oldest university, and Tyler are among a group of “royals and aristocrats”, who were filmed 24/7 for two weeks in a mansion in Surrey. Although Daniel is not allowed to give away anything about the series, which started its run last week, host Archie Manners has hinted Tyler spends a lot of time talking about the Markles’ feud.
