Marco Reus bagged a double as Bundesl iga leaders Borussia Dortmund came from behind to beat Bayern Munich 3-2 in a thrilling Der Klassiker showdown.

Robert Lewandowski had put Bayern ahead against his former club with a bullet header but Reus equalised from the penalty spot early in the second half.

The Poland forward nodded in a second before Reus levelled again with a stunning finish.

And substitute Paco Alcacer secured a memorable victory with a third on the break.

Lewandowski, though, was twice denied a hat-trick by an offside f lag – the second coming deep into stoppage time as Dortmund opened up a seven- point lead over their rivals who stay third.

Having seen their side thrashed 6- 0 by Bayern the previous time the teams met in March, Dortmund fans celebrated this win as though they had won the league for the f irst time since 2012.

Lucien Favre’s team certainly showed they are well equipped to sustain a ser ious chal lenge for the title.

Meanwhile, in La Liga Atletico Madrid twice came from behind to pull off a thrilling 3-2 win at home to Athletic Bilbao.

Struggling Bilbao took the lead in 36 minutes through Inaki Williams.

Thomas Partey’s stunner level led for Madrid but Williams quickly replied again to restore Bilbao’s lead. Atletico midfielder Rod r i le vel led in the 80th minute.

However, captain Diego Godin headed the winner despite carrying an injury.
