Heavy mettle rocks for Blues

- Stranraer................ 2 Forfar ...................... 1

Gaffer Stevie Farrell hailed Stranraer’s mettle after they had to battle to clinch back-to-back wins.

Blues led through Luke Donnelly and Connor McManus but John Baird’s penalty meant a nervy ending.

Farrell said: “The most pleasing thing was the final 10 minutes when we had to show some mettle. I saw character in the team and I’m pleased.”

Donnelly netted first when he turned and fired across Marc McCallum. He then

Cameron Ritchie

turned provider, cutting back for McManus to slot home his first Blues goal.

Mark Hill was brought down in 80 minutes and Baird made no mistake from 12 yards.

But Forfar couldn’t break through and gaffer Jim Weir said: “A draw would have been fair but sometimes one team gets the breaks.”
