STAR LEADS £9M HALL SING-SONG

14 Sun­day Mail T ravi s f ront­man Fran Healy led a per­for­mance of one of his band’s big­gest hits yes­ter­day to mark the re­open­ing of a live mu­sic venue.

Aberdeen Mu­sic Hal l opened its doors fol­low­ing a £9mil­lion ren­o­va­tion.

The 200-year- old venue closed in Apri l 2016 as work be­gan to cre­ate a new lower level. It freed up more space for a new per­for­mance stu­dio, a digital art space and restau­rant and bar.

Healy led the Mu­sic Hall’s Com­mu­nity Choir as they per­formed Travis hit Sing, be­fore cut­ting into a gi­ant Mu­sic Hall cake.

Aberdeen Per­form­ing Arts chief ex­ec­u­tive Jane Spiers said: “We chose Sing be­cause it is upli f t ing and al l about the restora­tive power of mu­sic.”
