We’ll give Salzburg the Noisy Neighbour treatment Jozo: Fans knocked Man City off their stride, now we need them to give Red Bull roar deal

-

Now Jozo Simunovic reckons if the Hoops can intimidate Germany and England’s biggest and best into sub-standard submission, there’s no reason why they can’t do it to Austria’s Invincibles.

Celtic’s stand- out win last month over the team currently sitting third in the Bundesliga leaves them needing just a point from their final group game to qualify from their dog- eat- dog Europa League section.

However they’ll have to overcome a Red Bull Salzburg side who not only have five wins from five in Group B but are unbeaten in all competitions this season with 24 wins and five draws in their 29 games.

Simunovic, though, insists records are there to be broken after the Hoops ended Manchester City’s 10- game winning start to the 2016-17 season with a thrilling 3-3 draw at Parkhead.

The Croatian- born stopper said: “That’s a motivation for us, we want to stop their run if it’s possible. And if our fans can have an effect on Man City and other teams we’ve played, I’m sure they can have an effect on Salzburg as well. Why not?

“It won’t be easy because Salzburg have been the best team in the group so far, for sure.

“But our stadium’s no favourite for any team to come to and we want to win this game, simple as that.

“A draw might be enough but we have to play for a win.

“Will that send out a message? It’s not about a message, it’s more about giving everything that we can give ourselves. If we give our best, we can show our best.”

Parkhead boss Brendan Rodgers didn’t have his troubles to seek when the sides met in Austria at the start of October.

He was missing the inf luence of skipper Scott Brown, the artistry of Tom Rogic, and the authority of Filip Benkovic alongside Dedryck Boyata at the back.

Despite Odsonne Edouard’s stunner of a second-minute opener, the Treble winners were miles off their high standards as they fell to a 3-1 defeat.

And they ended the game with just 10 men following a red card for winger James Forrest.

But Simunovic, an unused sub in the Red Bul l Arena that night, insisted: “It will be a c omplet e l y different game to that one in Austria this week. But the
