Cove blew Huntly away 5- 0 to seal a Highland League Cup semi-final spot.

Rangers boss John Sheran reckoned the five-star show was the perfect response after their 100 per cent league record was ended by Fraserburgh last week.

A deflected Jamie Masson free-kick after 18 minutes sent the league leaders ahead . Jordon Brown ensu r ed a two - goa l advantage by the break with a fine close-range header.

Daniel Park put the game beyond doubt with a freekick after 79 minutes and Hamish MacLeod and Ryan Ferguson were both clinical to complete the rout.

Sheran said: “We asked the boys for a reaction, albeit I didn’t feel we played badly last week.

“We played really well today. We took control of the game and knocked it around. There were some good goals. I’m pleased with the performance.”

Cove join Wick, Brora and holders Formartine in Thursday’s draw.

Goals from Kyle Macleod, Dale Gillespie and Gavin Morrison earned Brora a 3-1 victory at Buckie.

Gar ry Wood, Stuar t Smith, Conor Gethins and Ryan Stott were on target for Formartine in their 4-1 thrashing of visiting Deveronvale. Vale’s finish came from Grant Noble as Michael Dunn saw red.

In the league Fraserburgh moved to two points behind Cove with a 3-1 victory at Strathspey. Scott Barbour, Aiden Combe and a penalty from Ryan Christie did the damage for the Broch.
