Stewart Petrie praised his side as they battled their way to a 3-2 win over Raith Rovers.

Daniel Armstrong opened the scoring for Raith but Martin Rennie’s free-kick ensured it was level at the interval.

Montrose made it 2-1 in 59 minutes when Paul Watson headed down a free-kick for Craig Johnston to score.

Kevin Nisbet tied things up at 2-2 in 74 minutes with a shot on the turn.

minutes from time when Euan Henderson showed blistering pace on the left and crossed for Ross Campbell to score.

Petrie said: “I’m really proud of the boys. The first 20 minutes of the second half were as good as we’ve played this season.

“On balance we deserved the three points.”
