Blast drama on beach

A controlled explosion was carried out on a beach yesterday after suspected ordnance was found on the sand.

The device was discovered halfway between Irvine and Barassie in Ayrshire.

The beach was cordoned of f and a Royal Nav y Ex plo s i v e Ordnance Disposal team from Faslane naval base carried out the controlled explosion.
