Karen admits her biggest challenge yet was swimming across the Channel – a feat which raised more than £1000 for the Firefighters Charity.

She said: “We swam in one-hour rotations climbing on and off the support boat. It was made even better because I did the final leg and it was my last stint that saw us land on the beach in France.”

But it has not been all plain sailing for Karen, who has been attacked by jellyfish and a swan.
