Ian: We’ve got a Little bit of class

- Airdrie ..................... 0 Arbroath................. 1

Ian Campbell labelled his runaway league leaders “first class” after they made it eight wins on the spin.

Ricky Little’s first-half header saw off the dogged Diamonds, who missed a host of chances to end the leaders’ 17-game unbeaten run.

Along with Liverpool, Arbroath are the only side in Britain yet to suffer a league defeat this season.

Assistant boss Campbell said: “It was a first class team performance - you don’t lose goals, you don’t lose games.

“This is not an easy place to come but we’ve come away with the points and we probably deserved it.”

Airdrie were denied an opener in 22 minutes when keeper Darren Jamieson

spread himself superbly to thwart Dale Carrick from close range.

Little headed the winner from a Gavin Swankie cross five minutes later.

Josh Edwards came close to equalising in 51 minutes but his swerving strike came back off the post.

Airdrie screamed for a late penalty when the ball appeared to hit a hand in the box but nothing was given.

Diamonds boss Ian Murray said: “Arbroath have been rampant and we contained them very well but didn’t have a cutting edge.”
