Cardiac crisis diverts jet flight

-

Hundreds of holidaymakers were left stuck in Manchester yesterday after an elderly man became seriously u nwe l l on an Edinburgh- bound plane.

The easyJet f light from Tenerife was diverted to Manchester following the cardiac arrest of one of the passengers.

Passenger Linda Hamilton, 67, from Mount Vernon, said: “My thoughts go out to the man who was seriously unwell and I hope he makes a full recovery but the handling of the situation by the easy Jet and Manchester airport was shocking.

“The flight left Tenerife at 6.30pm and was due to arrive in Edinburgh at 11.20pm, however we were diverted to Manchester and stuck there for three hours.”

Ian Black , another passenger on the flight said: “A medical emergency landing was unavoidable.

“However, leaving everyone else including pensioners in wheelchairs stranded and to then be told ‘make your own way home from Manchester and claim expenses back’ was absolutely shocking.”

Easyjet said they had done everything possible to minimise the impact of the disruption, providing hotel rooms and meals for those who required them, while waiting to be flown back to Edinburgh the following day. They added that passengers who made their own way back to Edinburgh would be reimbursed.
