Former boy wizard‘s firm magic up £6m to take fortune to £76m
Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe is sitting on a £76 million fortune, his company ’ s l a t es t accounts show.
The 29- year- old former boy wizard is sti l l magicking up millions every year, according to financial statements for his firm Gilmore Jacobs. In the last year alone, his fortune rose by £ 6million. Radcliffe is currently starring on Broadway, winning rave reviews for his leading performance in The Lifespan of a Fact. Gilmore Jacobs were set up for h im by h i s parents in 2000 after he made his acting debut aged 10 in BBC1’s 1999 TV film David Copperfield.
The business made a modest £ 96,155 in their first year, after Radcliffe was cast in Harry Potter and The Philosophers Stone.
Two years later, following the release of the Chamber of Secrets, they were worth £ 4.2million after the young star netted £ 5.2million in acting fees. Three Potter films, lat er in 2 0 0 8 , the y held £12.9million.
These funds nearly quadrupled by the time the last two Potter films were released and accounts reveal his fortune is still growing despite the end of the Potter franchise.
Gilmore’s latest accounts show the firm have £13million in cash, £ 19mi l l ion in investments , £4million in investment properties and £ 37.2m i l l ion i n other investments.
Speaking about his fortune in 2016, he said: “I don’t really do anything with my money.
“I’m very grateful for it because having money means you don’t have to worry about it, which is a very lovely freedom to have.”
He said the money also gives him the freedom to act in independent films, adding: “For all the people who’ve followed my career, I want to give them something to be interested in, rather than them just watch me make loads of money on crap films for the rest of my life.”
