That’s Las thing any of us wanted to do

Motherwell No.2 Keith Lasley says the Steelmen will remain stuck in a relegation battle until they can find some consistency.

Well turned in their worst home display of the season and Lasley says his players must start stringing wins together.

Lasley was in the dug- out with boss Stephen Robinson starting his touchline ban.

He said: “We are in a battle, absolutely. Any talk of looking above us is based on us finding some consistency.

“Until we do that then we’re firmly in a battle.

“From a St Mirren point of view they knew they would get that bit closer to us with a win.

“We were looking to pull away and we haven’t managed. This was the same team that won at St Johnstone. We have given a really good performance and then followed it up with something like that. We need to find consistency.

“If we want any chance of pushing up the table then we need to be consistent.

“It’s not what we were looking for both in terms of the result and the performance. The big thing for us was the manner of both. It’s not the way we like to play football.”

Motherwell now host highflying Kilmarnock on Boxing Day which is followed by a Lanarkshire derby against Hamilton Accies before the winter break.

Lasley said: “We know it’s not what was required. Wednesday now becomes even bigger.”

Not the most difficult of days for the man in the middle but it wasn’t the toughest game he will be in charge of this season for sure.

The whistler infuriated the home fans with some decisions but nothing major for the whistler to deal with on a scrappy afternoon. Decent all round show. 7
