“Steven Naismith was pulled to the ground in front of the referee and Peter Haring had a free header and he was barged in the back.

“Yet both of those claims for us were denied.”

Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes launched a scathing attack on Hearts rival Craig Levein last night, claiming his side “are always looking for penalties”.

Levein hit out moments after Aberdeen’s 2- 0 win at Pittodrie, furious because he felt that his side were denied at least two clear-cut penalties by referee John Beaton.

However, that only prompted an equally angry McInnes to hit back and claim his counterpar­t
