Ref has Martin smartin’

-

Hamilton boss Martin Canning reckons ref Nick Walsh cost his side a precious point by refusing to disallow Motherwell’s winner yesterday.

Canning felt keeper Gary Woods was fouled by Well defender Peter Hartley as he tried to gather a David Turnbul l free- kick , allowing Tom Aldred to chip home the loose ball.

He said: “I haven’t seen it back but I thought it could have been a foul.

“It was a foul on Mickel Miller in the middle of the park before that. He was pushed in the back and the ref never gave that either.

“I said to the official when he gave the second free-kick to them if it cost a goal it was another poor decision from him.

“That doesn’t excuse the fact we lost too many headers in our box and we didn’t offer enough going forward in the second half.”

Canning accepts Accies will again be battling the drop in the New Year.

He added: “We said to the players there is no doubt where we are and where we need to be.

“We need to finish as high as we can and that is looking like 10th.

“We need to try to freshen things up, we need players in with a little bit of experience.

“We’ve got a lot of good young players but we’re very inconsistent.”
