Gers eye recall for hot Ryan

-

Steven Gerrard admits he could recall loan striker Ryan Hardie from Livingston in January.

The Ibrox gaffer has been impressed by the 21-year-old’s displays for the Lions since he returned from injury.

The youngster has five goals in seven games for Gary Holt’s side and Livi are desperate to retain him for the rest of the season.

But if Gerrard doesn’t get his way and land a new frontman in the transfer market then Hardie – who scored in the 2-1 defeat at Aberdeen yesterday – could be called back.

Gerrard said: “It’s a possibility we might recall Ryan. We’re discussing it but haven’t made a final decision.

“It will depend on if we’re able to add someone to the squad. If we do that we’ll probably leave him where he is.

“But if we can’t make that happen then it’s an option for us – he’s a player I like.

“I haven’t seen too much of him because he’s had a lot of injuries at Rangers. But I have been really impressed with him in his recent performances for Livingston.

“We won’t bring Ryan back not to use him, from a selfish point of view.

“I’ve got respect for the player and his development. I know he’s enjoying his football at Livingston.

“If the decision is to bring him back, it would only be with an eye to using him for Rangers.”
