Ranieri rages at ‘selfish’ Kamara after penalty bust-up
Raging Claudio Ranieri ripped into Aboubakar Kamara after the Fulham star snubbed penalty orders and almost cost them a priceless victory against Huddersfield.
Ranieri’s men secured three vital points in the relegation fight with a 1- 0 win over their fellow strugglers.
Aleksandar Mitrovic scored in stoppage time but he’d earlier been robbed of spot-kick duties by Kamara. The Frenchman clashed with his team-mates over who would take the penalty before missing from 12 yards.
Ranieri fumed: “It is not possible to explain what happened or maybe I should say it is easy when a man thinks only of himself. It is not right. He didn’t respect me, the club, his team-mates, the crowd. He took the ball and just said, ‘ I want to shoot’. He didn’t listen to reason.
“It is unbelievable – the first time in my life I have seen that. I understand why the fans might boo him.”
Cardiff edged away from the drop zone with a 1- 0 win at Leicester, Victor Camarasa netting a brilliant injury-time goal after James Maddison had missed a penalty for the hosts.
Bluebirds boss Neil Warnock said: “It’s the best day since we’ve been back in the Premier League – the best performance of the season by an absolute mile.”
Elsewhere, Jurgen Locadia got the only goal as Brighton dumped Everton and Abdoulaye Doucoure salvaged a point for Watford in a 1-1 draw with Newcastle.
