High cost of dirty plates

Road safety and break­down or­gan­i­sa­tion GEM Mo­tor­ing As­sist are urg­ing driv­ers to en­sure they have clean num­ber plates.

They risk a fine of up to £1000 if their reg is dirty and can’t be read eas­ily. GEM’s Neil Worth said: “The law is very clear – you risk a £1000 fine if you al­low your num­ber plate to be­come ob­scured.”
