Turnbull agent is blasted

-

Stephen Craigan has begged David Turnbull’s agent to butt out and stop messing with the young Motherwell star’s future.

The former Steelmen coach, who left Fir Park last month, is concerned the teenager’s career could stall if he quits Well before he’s ready.

The 19- year-old midfielder, whose contract expires in May, has emerged this season as a promising talent.

But with fewer than 20 first-team appearances to his name, Craigan believes it’s too early for talk of a big-money move.

And the Northern Irishman reckons agent Liam O’Donnell should be motivated by more than money when it comes to his client’s future.

Craigan said: “David has been offered a very good contract – there’s been four or five offers from the club to his representative.

“But it looks like his representative wants him to go somewhere else.

“Agents have to be careful what they’re doing with young players.

“David has played 15 or 16 games. Why not let him stay and get to the 50 mark?

“I know the money might be there for the agent short-term.

“But people have to look after the welfare of the player first.

“It would be a huge disappointment if the club lost a player of his calibre.”
