Donald grump is scary

-

Stock cars slam into each other every week at Central Park but Cowdenbeath secretary David Allan says the most dangerous spot in the stadium is the seat in front of chairman Donald Findlay.

The QC has a long history with Rangers going back to his time as Ibrox vicechairman but asked about Findlay’s allegiances come the tie on Friday, Allan said: “He’s a Cowdenbeath man, don’t you worry.

“If Rangers score you might see Donald booting the seat in front of him in anger because that’s his normal reaction when the opposition score.

“I can guarantee you he will not be supporting Rangers. I know that, I’ve been at five Rangers games with him and he’s a Cowdenbeath man. It’s difficult for me to sell that seat in front of him – it’s a danger seat to sit in.”

Allan admits he hasn’t been able to walk up the street in the Fife town without folk shouting to him to get them tickets, while long lost friends of his have now resurfaced.

The clubs haven’t been strangers after both were joined in the Championship by Hibs and Hearts in 201415 but a one-off cup tie is always a special affair.

While Newport took Spurs to an FA Cup replay this term, Burton shipped nine to Manchester City.

Sitting inside Central Park the morning after last week’s Carabao Cup semi, Allan said: “Are you going to be Newport or are you going to be Burton?

“We lost 10- 0 to Hearts, the one game I missed that season and that was what ran through my head with Burton.

“I was delighted I missed that game. I have never watched it on TV or looked at the club’s match film – it’s as if it never happened.”
