Lewis: Dons can hoist flag

Lewis Ferguson wants to get his hands on the Premiershi­p title and says Aberdeen are genuine contenders.

The Pittodrie kid insists Derek McInnes’ side can challenge for trophies.

They sit just three points of f Celtic and Rangers, having played a game more than the Hoops. But as they

prepared for the second half of the campaign in Dubai la st week, midf ielder Ferguson revealed they’ve got their eyes on the prize.

Ferguson said: “I ’ ve always dreamt of winning trophies, whether it’s here or somewhere else.

“Especially in my f irst season here, it would be great to win the Scottish Cup or even the league. There’s no reason we can’t.

“If you look at the table, we’re only three points behind so there’s no reason not to believe it can happen.”

Meanwhi le, Ferguson could be set to land a new contract at Pittodrie seven months after joining.

The teenager has scored five goals – including big strikes against Burnley and a Betfred Cup semi- f inal winner against Rangers.

Gaffer Derek McInnes said: “I’ve spoken to Lewis’ agent and told him we’ll get together about recognitio­n.”

“The intention is for him to be our player for the next two or three years at least.”
