Price aims to sting Blues again

Glasow Warriors v Cardiff Blues Scotstoun, 3.15pm, Live on BT Sport

-

Ali Price insists Glasgow’s stranglehold on Cardiff will count for nothing when the sides go back into Euro battle today.

A third win of the season against the Blues will give the Warriors a great chance of claiming a Champions Cup quarter-final slot.

The Welsh side’s line-up at Scotstoun will feature several fringe men as they can’t reach the knockout phrase. But Price claims their threat will not be diminished in any way.

The Scotland scrum-half said: “Cardiff might have a changed team but their style won’t be any different.

“They will be just as dangerous as usual because they are coming here with nothing to lose – no pressure. By

contrast, the match is absolutely huge for us and we have everything to lose.

“We’re the ones who can get to the brink of qualification and their only mission is to stop our party happening.

“Regardless of our great record against them, we have to approach it with intensity.”

Price stressed that the initial target is simply to secure a victory – and not worry about a bonus point until the later stages. He added: “If we go full pelt from the start for the five points we might end up in a bit of a dogfight. We must keep our composure and take care of the victory before pushing things.”

Cardiff boss John Mulvihill has made 12 changes to his starting line-up, including recalls for wing Tom James and hooker Matthew Rees.

Mulvihill said: “We’re particularly excited to see Tom back 100 per cent fit, happy and healthy in the wake of his illness. He has had to be patient and has had some setbacks along the way. But he has hung in there and thoroughly deserves this opportunity.

“Matthew galvanises the team around him. He will keep them on the straight and narrow and we won’t deviate too far from the game plan.”
