Toddler back in top gear after toy row

-

Cole Christie is back in the driving seat thanks to me and the good people at Volvo.

I told two weeks ago how the toddler was going nowhere in his shiny toy car.

His gran Eleanor had ordered the XC90 from online firm Duplay, paying £ 279.94, but within a month the engine was cutting out.

Duplay failed to respond to any of my enquiries. Her credit card firm Nationwide wouldn’t help either and PayPal were quite happy to refer a worse view. So we had to accept the mixing desk seats. I asked if they were the same price and was told yes. But people around us had paid £140.” A manager offered a free drink and programme. But Maggie said: “In the end, we watched the concert via a view of the top half of the big screens.” Maggie complained to The Hydro and promoters in writing. She said: “The Hydro blamed the promoters and said they hadn’t been advised of any sight lines that might be Eleanor to the seller, knowing the firm had failed to respond.

But Volvo saved the day and is sending the two-year-old a new car.

The firm said: “We were disappointed to hear of the experience Eleanor and Cole had with a third party distributor of one of our products. We’re investigating but, in the meantime, we just want to get Cole ‘back on the road’.”

Eleanor, 60, of Lanark, said: “We can’t thank you enough. It’s great.”
