A BBC Radio 1 DJ has banned rappers who disrespect women.

Tiffany Calver, the first female host of the station’s Rap Show, has blacklisted artists who use crude, abusive and sexist language towards women.

Tiffany, 23, said she is using her job to take a stand against disrespectful lyrics.

She took over the Saturday night 9-11pm slot from Charlie Sloth at earlier this month.

Tiffany said: “I have my own beliefs and there are people I’ve definitely already black l i sted f rom my tracklists based on how they have treated women in the news and in the press.

“You know where the line is. I ’ m just putting my foot down and strongly vocal ising that I won’t tolerate disrespectful lyrics towards women at all.”

The presenter has a predominant ly female production team, including her ed i t or a nd the commissioner.

She said: “It’s important because I think nobody would think it.

“For one, you would never presume the biggest rap show in the countr y is hosted by a female.

“There’s a fema le producer, I have a gay producer – it’s like all of these people that would never necessarily have been tied to a specif ic genre maybe 10, 20 years ago, are running the biggest show in the country.

“It just shows how far we as people – but also as a culture – are coming, that this is accepted.”
