Change is good for us all
Matt Kilgallon was gutted to see Martin Canning lose his job but admits a change could benefit Hamilton and their former gaffer.
The English defender feels he owes Canning for giving him an opportunity to play in the Scottish Premiership this term.
Kilgallon revealed that the Hope CBD Stadium was a sombre place last week when Canning was fired and later replaced by new head coach Brian Rice.
But the former Leeds United and Sunderland centre- back believes they’ll get a bounce from a new boss – whi le Canning deserves a well-earned break.
Kilgallon said: “It’s never a nice feeling to hear the manager’s gone. It’s always a strange atmosphere in and around the club.
“Martin was good to me. My family aren’t here, they’re still down south. He understood if I had to get home to see them.
“He brought me up to Hamilton and was really keen to sign me from the start. And I’ve enjoyed it.
“So I have a lot to thank him for.
“But the other side of it is he has kept the club up for four years now and it has always been a battle.
“So maybe even Martin will be feeling a weight off his shoulders.
“Maybe a change of manager will help the club but it’s still sad to see Canning go.”
