ARISTO GRANDAD DIES DAYS AFTER MURDER BID CASE
Death notice says 83-year-old passed away peacefully
Sir Peter Craft Hutchison, 83, passed away “peacefully”, according to a death notice.
Last month, a pensioner appeared at St i rl ing Sheriff Court accused of attempting to murder Pet er, 2nd Ba ronet Hutchison of Rossie, in a case involving the use of petrol.
The 82-year-old woman won a rare court order granting her anonymity in relation to the case.
Represented by one of Scotland’s highest- paid QCs, Bert Kerrigan, the woman made no plea at the hearing on January 9 and was granted bail in connect ion with an alleged incident which happened last October.
The Crown Office says there are “no dates set at present” for any further court appearances. Any update to the charges would happen the next time the case is called.
A police spokeswoman said: “A report was sent to the procurator fiscal in connection with a man sustaining minor injuries in Kippen, Stirlingshire.
“He was ta ken to hospital as a precaution.”
In the vast majority of cases, an accused’s name, age and brief outline of charges are made public.
But on this occasion Sheriff Simon Collins took the step of banning media from naming the suspect under the Contempt of Court Act 1981.
A death notice published on Tuesday stated that Peter – who was a former chairman of the Forestry Commission Scotland – died on January 20.
It said he was the “loving husband of Virginia, father of James and grandfather of Harry and Louisa”.
His funeral will be held on Friday in Kippen Parish Church.
