Tributes paid to murdered mum of 4

- Dr Pam Spurr

A woman stabbed to death on the school run was a “wonderful” mum of four, friends said yesterday.

Aliny Mendes, 39, was attacked while holding her three-year-old daughter just yards from the primary school where she was due to pick up her three sons.

A friend described Aliny as “wonderful – the kind of woman who was loved everywhere she went”.

She was killed when a man jumped out of a black 4x4 and attacked her at 3pm on Friday.

Her sons – aged six, eight and 12 – were waiting to be picked up at Meadow Pr ima r y S choo l , in Ewell, Surrey.

It is understood Brazilborn full-time mum Aliny had emigrated to the UK in 2003 in search of a better life.

A witness to the attack said: “I saw a 4x4 mount the kerb and a male got out, chased this woman a couple of feet then grabbed her and she fell to the ground.

“I rang 999 and then turned around – by which point the car was gone.

“Members of the public were helping her. One was performing CPR.”

Surrey Police said the suspect was believed to be known to Aliny.

They arrested a man in his 40s from Epsom on suspicion of murder and a London man in his 50s on suspicion of assisting an offender.

A crowdfunding page is being set up to raise money for her children.

The X- Files star’s role as a lovelorn single mum and sexpert in the hit show has earned her a whole new generation of fans at the age of 50.

The sexually explicit comedy series, which centres around Dr Jean’s socially awkward son Otis, who sets up a sex therapy clinic at his school, is a huge hit. Rated certificate 18, the show – which includes some of the raunchiest sex scenes seen on British TV – has been watched in more than 40million homes worldwide.

Now it has been given the thumbs-up by real-life sex therapists, who say the show could start a sexual revolut ion in British homes.

Doctors Becky Spelman and Pam Spurr hailed Sex Education for getting young people to talk openly about sex and relationships and encouraged parents to watch the show – though perhaps not with their teenagers.

Dr Spelman, who runs therapy clinics across the globe, said: “A show like this is a good thing as it acts as a resource for many young people in families where there may still be a lot of stigma surrounding sex and sexual health.

“It also shows parents who carry any sexual stigma that their children will get the information and guidance they need whether they are willing to talk about it or not, which may help them to open up and be supportive.

“It’s a comedy and to approach these topics with a degree of lightheartedness
