Dramatic turn from Strictly dancer
Strictly winner Kevin Clifton is set to pen a tell-all TV drama about ballroom dancing.
The professional dancer, who won this year’s BBC series with partner Stacey Dooley, wants to turn his experiences into a script.
And he’s even been getting writing tips from Scots comedian Susan Calman – his dance partner from the 2017 series of Strictly.
Clifton said: “There’s a TV drama I would really like to write based around the ballroom dance world.
“I’d quite like it to be about competitors and the other side of the ballroom dancing – not the glitz and the glamour.
“Susan and I have been talking about it quite a lot.
“It doesn’t have to have any dancing in it. I want it to be a drama on the compet it iveness , the pol itics, the dynamics between partnerships and other competitors and what they have to go through to in this quest to win competitions.”
Kevin, 36, plans to draw on his own experiences in the industry and those of his friends and family – i ncludi ng sister and former Strictly star Joanne Clifton.
He said: “I’ve got a lot of stories and my sister has a lot of stories.”
The star, from Grimsby, had previously appeared in four finals but repeatedly missed out on the top spot.
But in the 2018 series, he was able to lift the coveted Glitterball trophy for the first time with his celebrity pa r tner, 31- yea r - old presenter Dooley.
