One successful candidate was Dominic Lunny, who found the courses run by the programme of great benefit to his work and his own self-esteem.
Only a few months ago, Dominic didn’t have a lot of confidence and was unsure how to get his career on track.
He knew that he wanted to start work instead of going into further or higher education, and was sure that a practical role where he could learn on the job would be best suited to him.
After learning about the services offered by North Lanarkshire’s Working, Dominic approached them.
During his time with the programme, Dominic embarked on confidence-building courses, developed his CV and was helped to improve his interview skills.
Subsequently, he has been successful in gaining a position as an apprentice plumber with construction firm Cruden – a role he is enjoying and excelling in.
“Before I started here, I had no idea where I would get a job, as school just wasn’t for me,” said Dominic.
“I am delighted with the support I was given from North Lanarkshire’s Working as it gave me confidence and opened up opportunities for me.
“The ability to make a full-time wage right out of school is a massive benefit, as well as the opportunity to go to college once a week.
“I am now looking forward to many more years with Cruden and want to thank North Lanarkshire’s Working for the support they have given me to get into this job.”
