French hitman praises new gaffer for revival

-

Born-again Paul Pogba says boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is the key to his revival.

The Frenchman scored twice yesterday to sink rotten Fulham and continue his resurgence since Jose Mourinho’s exit.

He’s now netted 13 times this season – seven of them in nine league games under Solskjaer.

£ 89million man Pogba ran the show at Craven Cottage – and says he’s playing with freedom under the Norwegian.

He said: “Ole helps every player play at their best. Ole is himself. He’s not acting and he’s given joy and confidence to everyone at United.

“The team have a really good atmosphere. You can see on the pitch the effect.”

Pogba got his f irst in 13 minutes when he raced on to Anthony Martial’s pass and rammed in from a tight angle.

Martial doubled the lead nine minutes later, collecting the ball at halfway line, jinking past Denis Odoi and racing into the area before firing home.

And Pogba made sure of the points from the penalty spot in 64 minutes after Juan Mata was felled by Maxime Le Marchand.

That made it six straight away wins for United despite Solskjaer making six changes ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League last-16 tie with PSG.

Pogba added: “There is a long way to go with big games coming up. We must focus on PSG and try and get points.”

Solskjaer praised the French terror, saying: “We know Paul – his physicality, energy and strength cause problems.

“I have not released those qualities. He is playing to his potential.

“I try to get the best out of everyone but he is definitely responding. We are trying to put players in a position where we can hurt teams.”

Claudio Ranieri’s Fulham have now lost five of their last s i x and lo ok in deep relegation trouble.

The manager said: “We lost our composure.”
