Andy’s Power mad

-

last night the sides fought out a 0- 0 draw.

Power’s high challenge on Jack in the first half earned him a yellow card from ref Alan Muir.

But the Gers midfielder is adamant the Irishman should have been shown a straight red card.

And he compared it to a tackle from Liverpool forward Sadio Mane on Manchester City keeper Ederson last term.

Halliday said: “If you watch it back – and I’ve got the best view on the pitch six yards away – it’s a red card. It’s as simple as that.

“I don’t think he meant it but it’s endangering an opponent, there’s no grey area in that. I remember Mane on Ederson last year – exact same tackle and it was a red card.

“It’s a hard job to be a ref. They get decisions right and wrong, they’re only human.

“But everyone says the same word, consistency. You see penalties given for things then they’re let go on other occasions.

“The one we conceded at Aberdeen on Wednesday night was a penalty with James Tavernier and Lewis Ferguson in the box.

“But every weekend I see people grappling in the box getting tight to strikers and you don’t see it.

“I hope Power isn’t retrospectively punished because I don’t want to see anyone get suspended.”

But Gers boss Gerrard suggested otherwise. He said: “Could Kilmarnock have gone down to 10 men? No comment. But I’ll be interested to see whether there’s a citing.”

Gerrard refused to blame spot- kick sinner James Tavernier – despite the full-back missing two of his last four penalties.

The Ibrox boss said: “It was frustrating but James has been really strong from the spot. I’m pleased he never let it affect his performance.”
