Clarke’s no fear of Ibrox
Steve Clarke insists Kilmarnock won’t be going to Ibrox for their Scottish Cup replay with an inferiority complex.
The Rugby Park boss admitted he’d rather have had the game done and dusted in 90 at home.
But with a win and two draws in his four previous visits, he sees no reason why his side shouldn’t go there believing they can still make the quarters.
He said: “Of course we’re confident.
“We’ve been to Ibrox already this season and didn’t lose, we’re always competitive there. The tie’s still open.
“It was a good cup tie, two fully committed teams. We got the break with the penalty save but we also missed a few big chances in a goalmouth scramble in the first half.
“I’ve no complaints about the draw, we did all right. I took the chance to go 4-4-2 in the last half hour because we wanted to win but Rangers had a better grip on the game.
“Both teams finished a bit leggy because of their exertions in midweek.”
Clarke also insisted he and Steven Gerrard have no problems to sort out, despite de their sniping.
He said: “It’s okay, it’s all al part of the game – no worries w at all with Steven.”
Killie had a penalty awarded aw against Kirk Broadfoot Br for handball but bu James Tavernier’s spot-kick sp was saved.
Broadfoot said: “It hit me on the chest first then rolled ro up on to my hand. From Fr their view it has to be b a penalty and from o ours it’s unlucky.”
The Kilie stopper defended ref Alan Muir’s other calls claiming the yellow for Alan Power’s high foot on Ryan Jack was right, as was ig ignoring a Jermain Defoe shout sh for a penalty.
He said: “I don’t think Alan Al should have been red re carded. It’s a bad one for fo Ryan but I don’t think Alan Al meant it.
“Defoe said to me that th he told the ref that it wasn’t w a penalty.”
