Double trouble

W is for winner in Uttoxeter cracker

-

Double W’s (4.40) can be magic on a cracking day down at Uttoxeter.

Ruth Jef ferson’s charge has strong claims having won at the Aintree Festival in the past and has an excellent opportunity in the handicap chase.

The nine- year- old has won his last three races including at Stratford a month ago and, crucially, the handicapper didn’t go nuts for that success.

This a harder contest but the two-mile trip on a sound surface is perfect.

VENTURA DRAGON (2.55) was a fine second at Perth and Oliver Sherwood’s gelding can go close again with natural improvement against just five rivals.

FOR GOOD MEASURE (3.30) landed a pretty decent contest at Huntingdon and is the one to beat again for the all-conquering Richard Johnson and Philip Hobbs.

Harry Whittington rarely raids Cartmel so it’s well worth having a punt on CARDY (2.00) in the opener at the Cumbrian track.

The gelding was second on debut at Southwell and looks nicely placed by the smart Oxfordshire trainer.

The Class 2 handicap hurdle is a belter but I’m happy to side with PROJECT BLUEBOOK (2.35).

John Quinn’s nag almost landed a punt in the Swinton at Haydock and he can defy top- weight thanks to Jonjo O’Neill Jnr’s valuable 3lb claim.

BEAU SANCY (4.15) landed the cash for us at Kelso last time when making a sparkling return after a wind operation.

Olly Murphy’s yak steps up in class here but the manner of the win in the Borders suggested there might be more to come.

At Windsor, VASILIEV (3.50) is surely a penalty kick for Clive Cox and Adam Kirby with some decent form already in the book.

The rider can enjoy a double on Ian Williams’ WESTERN DUKE (5.00) in the Class 4 handicap.
