- Emylie Howie

Joker Lewis Capaldi scored a resounding victory in his war of words with Noel Gallagher on the biggest stage of all yesterday.

The singer u sed hi s appearance at the Glastonbury festival to get his own back on moaning rock icon Noel.

Whitburn- born Lewis took to the Other Stage in the traditional Oasis uniform of bucket hat, round shades and green parka.

He took off the jacket to reveal a white T shirt with Noel’s face in the middle of a red love heart. The pair have been at each other’s throats since Noel mocked Lewis in an interview, saying: “Who is this Capaldi fella? Who the f*** is that idiot?”

Lewis played the clip over and over as he took to the stage.

He laughed: “Glastonbury, do you like rock and roll? Well, you have come to the wrong f***ing set.”

In an interview after he stepped off stage, Lewis said: “I’m a massive Noel Gallagher fan.

“Noel brought me up in an interview the other day and said he wasn’t the biggest fan of the music. I’m a huge fan of his so I thought the only way to do it, my first ever Glastonbury, would be to pay homage to a man who I love so dearly. “I think it’s hilarious.” Fel low Scott ish stars Gerry Cinnamon and The Proclaimers were also in action yesterday. After his set, singer Charlie Reid said: “It was blimmin’ hot out there.”

Temperatures at the festival hit 31C.

Janet Jackson provided some stardust before Liam Gallagher and The Killers came to the main stage.

Meanwhile, Noel was said to be on site.

Let’s hope he was cheered up by Lewis’s set.

I thought I’d pay homage to a man I love so dearly. It’s hilarious
