Dream a Family favourite at Ayr

- Joe Punter

SUMMER DAYDREAM (4.10) can have our head in the clouds on a cracking day at Ayr.

The Keith Dalgleish string remain in rude health through recent weeks and the three-year-old has a terrific chance under Paul Hanagan on July Family Raceday.

The filly ran fifth in the Group 3 Firth Of Clyde here last autumn and should be primed after her decent comeback run at Carlisle.

Constantly in this column, we have mentioned the Irish raiders up north being a profitable way into races and it has again shown itself perfectly over the past few days.

At Hamilton Adrian Murray sent two over and both scored while Gavin Cromwell did the same thing at Musselburgh 24 hours later.

With this in mind Noel Kelly’s decision to send WILD SHOT (2.30) over to Ayr looks interesting.

The five-year- old racked up a sequence at Dundalk earlier in the year and he has booked James Sullivan, who booted the Murray pair home in Lanarkshire, to do the steering.

Kelly also runs later on the card but Sullivan has jumped on Ruth Carr’s FINAL FRONTIER (4.40) for that contest, so that’s where the money is going.

The handicap over five furlongs looks a tricky puzzle but sprint king Paul Midgley saddles NIBRAS AGAIN (3.35) who won at York eight days ago and can follow up.

Ireland can also have the winner of the amateur riders race in the shape of MR SHELBY (5.15). It’s worth going and if you need to take the weans there is lots of free family entertainment including a mascot race and gates open at noon.

There’s a jumping card at Market Rasen and the usual suspects are likely to send out winners.

Dr Richard Newland is on fire at the moment and he can enjoy another double with NICKI STEEL (3.45) and ASYLO (4.50).

Over in Ireland there’s racing at Limerick and FIT FOR FUNCTION (2.55) rates my best bet on the card. Two of his five wins have come over today’s seven furlong trip and he ran well at Gowran last month.
